Kenya First lady runs for charity in London marathon

The first lady of Kenya, Mrs. Margaret Kenyatta made history when she participated in the 2014 London marathon.

Mrs. Kenyatta’s participation in the marathon was  to raise money and awareness for her ”Beyond Zero” charity, which aims at tackling the problem of maternal and infant death rates in Kenya.

She managed to run 42 kilometers in 72hrs and 4mins. Tears flowed freely amongst the support team in London while the Kenyan Diaspora jumped and cheered as First Lady Margaret Kenyatta inspired the globe with her debut at the London Marathon.

At the finish line, Mrs. Kenyatta was warmly received by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the London Marathon organizers led by the Chairman Sir John D. Spurling.

The first Lady was accompanied by a team of eight which was cheered by enthusiastic spectators who lined the route which had the most iconic sites of London.

Kenyans who live in the United Kingdom had traveled from every city in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales to come and cheer the First Lady and her team.
